It's snowing here in lovely Uptown Minneapolis. It has been for a few hours. But it's a nice gentle snow. It makes everything look pretty and makes my apartment feel cozier.

Which helps, because last night it was so flippin' cold in here I couldn't stand it.

So now I find myself in this languid state with nothing to write about.

It's Sunday, however. So by my rules I don't have to be interesting, relevant or intelligent.

I find it kind of... well, pretty cool... that Alison LaPlaca was on The OC tonight. Not just because she's awesome, but because she was on Duet, which was one of the very first shows to run on the FOX network back in the day. I loved that show.

Now they just need Tracey Ullman in a guest spot.

I should be working (and will be in a minute) but I thought I'd recap some of the highlights of the day:

1. In the year and a half that I've been working at my parttime job, today marks the second time that we've had cops and a K-9 unit searching the building. Although it was nowhere near as interesting as the last time this happened.

Apparently a shop down the block was robbed and they brought in a dog to see if he could track the guy down (the thief had apparently dropped something of his that they could use for a scent). So there were cops and detective-looking people everywhere.

2. Driving home from work I stopped to let another car in front of me (his lane was blocked by a parked car). Almost immediately the car behind me started laying on his horn like crazy and then violently swerved into the next lane and sped off. The car? A Saab with a bunch of indie bumper stickers on it.

I rolled my eyes and thought, "Man what a dick. I hope there's a cop nearby to bust him for speeding." No such luck. Instead, coming up to the next light he appeared to almost hit a biker riding in his lane. And by almost hit, I would surmise that he sped up to get really close to the biker to either intimidate him or... something. Then he swerved into the next lane, passed the biker, and swerved back into his lane, only to stop shortly afterward for a red light.

And I noticed the biker picking up speed to catch up to the Saab. He pulled over to the car's passenger side door and started banging his fist on the car and window, all the while swearing at the guy.

When that proved unsatisfactory, he got off his bike and started kicking violently at the car's side view mirror, which quickly broke. The biker then took off.

At this point I was trying to decide what to do. Do I try and pull over and volunteer to be a witness or just let things between two road ragers sort themselves out? I took what was behind door number two. I don't condone vandalism but I also find it wildly uncool to menace bikers that are in the street. Especially to a point that, had something gone wrong, the biker could have been seriously hurt.

Plus, the driver was an ass to me. Punk.

Huh. The ads you'll see at 3 AM.

For instance: an ad for this cushy teddy bear that snaps on to your seatbelt to alleviate any tightness on the part of the belt.

Which isn't a horrible idea, mind you. But the majority of the shots in this ad were of the bear in use—and face down in a woman's cleavage.

Now a cleavage-hugging teddy bear on a seatbelt is amusing enough. But the clincher? Is the name of this cuddly friend.

Tiddy Bear.

My only hope for humanity is that someone involved with this product somehow thinks it's funny.

But who knows? Maybe it'll inspire Sean Combs to pick up a new name next week.

On Cops tonight, they were doing a traffic stop when suddenly you hear squealing brakes and the cameraman turns and just catches some guy on a bike getting hit by the car. Crazy. And scary.

I haven't seen an episode of M*A*S*H in years. But tonight they showed the series finale. And suddenly I was trying to figure out why one of my favorite characters—Rizzo—was looking so familiar today.

It's Provenza from The Closer. G.W. Bailey rules.

And then there's The OC. Cancelled.

I thought I'd be a lot more sad about it. But I think after this season, the show could really go out on a high note. And that would be a nice ending.

And here we are in the New Year. Welcome to 2007.

I spent the day inside working. I went out once to grab some stuff from my car and thought better of it. It's cold out today.

I can imagine that the people complaining about how global warming is ruining our winter will shortly be complaining about the bitter cold.

Me? I got other things to complain about.

But not tonight.
