The Best Little Health Club in Minneapolis
This is a photo of the Dairy Queen on Lake Street that we would walk to in the summer. It was always crowded and I remember trying
to shoo away bugs constantly. The reason I include this is because there is a notable absence in this photo: a health club. I use the term "health
club" loosely.
If you get my meaning.
It went in some years later and shared DQ's parking lot. We always dared each other to go in there and ask for a membership application
just to see what they would do. Unfortunately, none of us were brave enough.
Now that I think about it, the place actually had three garage doors in the front of the building. That's quite ingenious, frankly.
What better way to ensure that clientele license plate numbers aren't taken down.
A few years ago, cops closed down all the health clubs and saunas on Lake. Shame, that. It was fun watching guys try to slink
into the various establishments.
Oh, and by the way that white stuff in the majority of the photo is snow. Lots and lots of snow. Good times.
